Choosing a nursing home for a loved one can be a difficult for many families. This is especially true because nursing homes are notorious for poor care and often subject to lawsuits from residents and their families. Families considering nursing homes should be cognizant of online resources providing data on certain nursing homes. https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Provider-Enrollment-and-Certification/CertificationandComplianc/downloads/SFFList.pdf
This web page offers a list of nursing homes that have a history of serious quality issues or are included in a special program to stimulate improvements in their quality of care, known as the “Special Focus Facility” program. The Special Focus Facility list will help you be as informed as possible when you discuss your long term care options with any nursing home listed there.
The web page currently lists five Connecticut homes as being candidates for the Special Focus Facility. Those facilities are:
- ADVANCED CENTER FOR NURSING & REHABILITATION 169 DAVENPORT AVENUE NEW HAVEN, CT 06519;
- APPLE REHAB ROCKY HILL 45 ELM STREET, ROCKY HILL, CT 06067;
